The nigth that changes our life

One silent nigth in February of this year, everthing seems like a normal nigth. I was in my house just with my mother, because my father was working and my two sisters were out; one of them was with her boyfriend and the other one with her friends in a party. I had to work very early at next day, so I was sleeping in my bed. The nigth was with a strange silence but in that moment I though that this Friday was like the others one, very normal. But I was wrong, nothing will be the same after that night.

Meanwhile I was sleeping something, I do not what, woke me. I could see, among the little space that the cortain did not cover in the window, that the light suddenly stopped working and everything became dark. All at once, my house started to move too fast and strong, I thought that it was a normal tremor, but it did not stop. Very scared my mother started screaming my name and I could say nothing just I wanted she would be with my, on my side. Meantime the movement continued, my mother found me, took one of my hands and she hold on to the door of my room asking God that it ended. I did not know what to do, I just looked my surrounding and everything were in moviment. My television fell down and some of my adornments also. The moviment each time was weaker until it finished.

My mother and I went down to the first floor of the house and suddenly we saw a person who enter to our house very fast and quiet. My mother screamed asking who this was but the person did not answered. When the person came in the house and met us, we could see that this person was my father, who was very ascared because we yet were into the house and all the neighbors were out of their houses. Then we could comunicate with my sisters and their were in good conditions.

We had not electricity and just a little of water go out of the pipes. So we could not watch television and we knew nothing about what realy had happened. On Monday, we went to the center of the town to buy some necessary products and also we bought a newspaper, and in that moment we could know the real disaster that had happened in our country; a lot of people that had lost their houses, a lot of people that got lost as result of the seaquake; and principally, a lot of people that were suffering for the consequences of the hearthquake that came to change the life of a million of people in the center-south zone of Chile.
